One of the neater features in the Linux and Mac operating systems is multiple desktops. It’s a simple enough idea, if you habitually have lots of programs open and running, set just the way you like it, switching between then can be a pain. With multiple desktops you set up each program or desktop as you want it and use a hotkey, or single mouse click to switch between them. Now you can add this feature to Windows, courtesy Sysinternals, with its Desktops utility. The program is small, lightweight and very simple to use. Just set up each of your desktops, click the icon in the System Tray and assign it to one of the four available slots. That’s all there is to it, and for the record it runs on all versions of Windows from XP onwards.
